Her father ( Sathyaraj), is a small farmer who supports her dreams against all financial and community pressures he faces. The story here is of a young girl ( Aishwarya Rajesh) hailing from a village who crosses all hurdles in realising her dream of playing for India in a Cricket tournament. The film has shades of Dangal (2016), Chak De! (2007) and Irudhi Suttru (2016), which is unavoidable due to the impact these movies had on us for this genre.
At few places, the film is dreary and you need a bit of patience, but it comes through eventually, especially the last 30 minutes were engaging. Just watch it for chellakutty.கனா (Kanaa) starring Aishwarya Rajesh & Sathyaraj is a familiar sports genre film, that gets appealing because of the unpretentious screenplay of Debut Director Arunraja Kamaraj and restrained acting from the entire cast, mainly the star actors. Whole movie runs on the shoulder of Aishwarya Rajesh and she delivered it best. How can she take the decision to offer it back to bank. She win 5L cash prize and she says this bank only offered me a loan so take this money back to repay the loan. In winning speech, Aishwarya is delivering a speech and SK is delivering a separate speech to teammates.
She takes an hat trick off first 3 balls. Each and every ball of final match is soo predictable.

Full of message, motivation dialogues, talking about his personal problems and spoiled the mood. While watching movie, I even forgot this guy is doing a cameo. After that it suddenly changed to a frustrating SK mass action movie. Everything was good until SK entered the movie. Comedy portion is also pretty convincing. Arun tried soo hard to match and manage between cricket and farming but failed miserably. Liked this movie only for Aishwarya Rajesh. Shivakarthikeyan deserves a salute for selecting such a unique plot and infusing mass thrilling moments and making a 'female-centric' project. 8 on 10 for this 190 minutes of cricket drama.Īiswarya Rajesh proved once again, she's a mature heroine. The cherry on the cake, is the strong social message about agriculture and the urgent need for more social support for it. Reminded of "1983" the Malayalam movie based of cricket. his obsession with cricket and inspiring his daughter to be a world class cricketer. This is the story of Kawsallya, the village belle, her teammates call her Kausi. The diaogues were good but not good enough for the kind of message the girl delivers in the climax as it needed a heavy stroking one (I can easily relate/remember this with the before interval scene in the movie Aruvi) Movies like these usually makes us/audiences rush internally aka pump the blood through the veins at least in the final match aka the climax scene but this movie failed to do that as well. There were several opportunities to make the plot very much interesting by playing with the emotions of the characters, and the match scenes could've been made way more interesting by adding some more twists and turns but very less seems to have been explored and shown. The story was very straight forward like Dangal, although not exactly. The plot revolves around the dream of a village girl who wants to play in the international cricket team to fulfill her dad's wish/challenge who's a die hard cricket fan. Not upto the expectations would be my personal opinion. Delivering a message to the masses about our dying agriculture along with the highly popular sport like Cricket that too in country like India is a top notch idea for sure but was it delivered perfectly?
